Learning New Things

Happy Friday! My Friday is going well – quite productive and I hope yours is too!

This morning I wanted a smoothie to take to class and I don’t know why because today is the coldest its been this winter in Auburn. But, I made it anyways. It was cold but so good!

You can’t see it but its in there!

Peanut Butter Blast Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 frozen banana

2 tablespoons peanut butter

handful of spinach

1 and 1/2 cups almond milk

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a blender and whirl away!

This smoothie is good for you and tastes like a peanut butter and banana milk shake… can it get any better? I think not.

Fridays are great because I only have one class from 8-8:50. Yes, its early but then I have the whole day to myself. I love that. After class I hit up the gym for 45 minutes which consisted of 30 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes strength training. I had to make it home to shower and get ready for an Auburn District Dietetic Association meeting at the local hospital.

I ate before I left – 1 egg + 1 egg white and ketchup on a whole wheat English muffin with 2 clementines… mmmm mmmm good!

I read a little of our school newspaper as I ate… we really have a wonderful weekly paper!

At the meeting, we had a speaker who is a hospitalist . He told us all about their role in the hospital.

Hospitalist: A physician who specializes in the practice of hospital medicine.  Following medical school, hospitalists typically undergo residency training in general internal medicine, general pediatrics, or family practice, but may also receive training in other medical disciplines.  Some hospitalists undergo additional post residency training specifically focused on hospital medicine, or acquire other indicators of expertise in the field, such as the Society of Hospital Medicine’s Fellowship in Hospital Medicine (FHM) or the American Board of Internal Medicine’s Recognition of Focused Practice (RFP) in Hospital Medicine.

It was very interesting to hear how hospitalists can benefit the healthcare system in all different aspects.

Well, Gunner has a play date so we’re off!
