Good Times at Rodeo

Where do I begin?

It’s been almost a week since I’ve blogged. That’s a little crazy, folks. I had a super busy week and I seriously didn’t have time! But, I’m back and I want to tell you about my awesome weekend.

Jon took Friday off and he came down Thursday so we could prepare for Saturday. Saturday was an event that students in this area of the Southeast wait for all year long (obviously not Christmas). It’s the Alpha Psi Rodeo! It is in Auburn but students come from all different neighboring colleges as far as Ole Miss. Even our biggest rivals show up from The University of Alabama! That’s how big this is. All of the money goes to charity and it’s a fun-fest of a day.

Everyone dresses up like “rednecks”. Girls wear their Daisy Dukes, boys wear cut-off shorts, and some people do funny things like grow out weird facial hair and wear fake mullets. We pack as many people we can in the bed of a truck and head out to the rodeo! It’s hysterical. It’s an all day event so there’s a lot to prepare for if you want to make it to the concert at night! This year, Eric Church performed. Last year, Blake Shelton came. I love me some Blake Shelton!

Now, it’s not a “real” rodeo. Anyone can ride in the rodeo. It’s just a bunch of college boys so they usually get bucked off in 0.2 seconds. You can tell they’re scared. I know I would be!

Friday I went food shopping to prep for the day. I made baked breaded chicken tenders for sandwiches, bought chips, and made brownies. We were set.

And you know there was tons of beer purchased, as well. ;)

Saturday

Everyone met up at my apartment (there were about 10 of us). We all piled in Jon’s truck and hit the road.

Here are a few pics from the day.

It was a great time – best rodeo yet!

I’m a little sore today. Things get crazy at rodeo.

What better than frozen yogurt to help? After Jon and I took Gunner to the park this afternoon we went to Chill for some froyo. I was in a fruity kind of mood since I was hot. It sure was refreshing.

I can’t believe it’s Sunday night. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun!

I’ll see ya in the morning with a new recipe .:)
