The Road That Leads You Home

Hey everyone!

Life has been crazy these past few days and the past few months in general. I graduated from college and have moved back to Long Island now. In between, there was studying for the GRE so I can get into grad school, packing, and finding out that Jon has been accepted into the Air Force! We’re so excited. Needless to say, there has been a lot of change. While I’m happy to be home with my family, I’ve had to move away from the best friends I have and Jon.

This past Thursday, Jon drove to Auburn from Atlanta (where he was doing Air Force stuff). I got a storage unit in Auburn since I plan on returning to the South after I complete my masters degree. We packed and packed on Friday and made many trips to and from the storage unit.

I don’t know what I would have done without Jon. He is such an awesome guy. We literally did not stop from 8:30 in the morning to 6:30 in the evening. We headed to Atlanta to spend the night at Jon’s cousins’ house. This takes off about an hour and a half of driving time for the big trip.

We left bright and early Saturday morning – 5:45 a.m. to make the 1,000+ mile trip home. We didn’t hit any traffic which was awesome and pulled into my driveway at 8:00 p.m.

Yesterday was my sister’s birthday so we hung out in the daytime and went out to eat at night to a local seafood place on the water.

We had a fun night. This morning we woke up rather early because Jon had to head to the airport (picture a big sad face). My dad drove with us. It was hard but we said our good-byes. My dad and I headed to Trader Joe’s before going home. That made me feel a little happier for the time being.

I’m going to head out to my aunt’s house later today for dinner to see some of my family.

Have a lovely day!
