I arrived home safe and sound from Indiana, Pennsylvania last night around midnight. I went there for a presentation and an exam. I could have taken the exam at a local testing center but since I had to go to campus for the presentation, I figured I would just take it there.
Jon and I left Sunday morning around 7:15. We were looking at a 6 hour drive and I had to be there for a 6 pm exam. I wanted to make sure I had more than enough time to check into the hotel, study, and find the building I had to go to since this was my first time on IUP’s campus!
Side note: I freakin’ have the best parents. The day before I left, my mom purchased a bunch of drinks/food/snacks for Jon and I and my dad got my car washed and filled up my tank. Whose better than them? No one!
Anyways, back to the drive… I had a really lovely country boy chauffeuring me to Pennsylvania while I sat and studied…
Sandwiches were consumed… turkey, cheese and mustard on whole wheat potato bread.
Beautiful views were seen…
And almost 400 miles later, we were at IUP!
It was a nice little campus and a very cute small town. I was happy when I got my exam and flew through it… I studied all of the right stuff! Then it was onto a little fun for the rest of the night.
We had a fun little night in a new town. The next morning I felt marvelous… slept like a rock! We grabbed some breakfast at the hotel, a la complimentary. I went with oatmeal, coffee and OJ.
We had to be out of the hotel by 11 but my presentation wasn’t until 5. SUPER. I had some things to finish up on my presentation so we headed to the library for a couple of hours and then grabbed lunch at Tom’s Pizza. I had this awesome veggie pita. It was so simple and yet so perfect with a side of yogurt sauce. Yum!
My presentation went…ehh. My content was fine but I was nervous and you could tell! It was a small class and I just hate when all attention is on me! I actually gave a speech at my high school graduation and there wasn’t a nervous bone in my body and I did really great. Throw me in front of a small class and I freeze up! Weird.
We hit the road right when I got out of the exam. The drive is very, um, one of those “I feel like I’m in the middle of nowhere” drives. When we finally found civilization we popped into a Panera Bread and I got my favorite You Pick Two. We ate pretty fast so we could get back on the road again.
I came home to a wiggling Weimaraner who was very happy to see me! The feeling was mutual.
Question: How do you do with public speaking? Like or or dislike it?
Have a great day!
