A Lovely Dinner Out

Hey guys!

How has your weekend been? I felt awesome yesterday during my 5 mile run but as soon as my run was over, my knees were killing me. I really dislike my knees. It still hurts today but I’m hoping and praying to the knee gods that it goes away soon. I didn’t do anything to it while running, so I’m hoping it’s just from running on concrete, etc. Bleh!

My sister’s boyfriend Matt’s parents came to Long Island for the weekend. They live in Canada but his dad is from Whales and his mom is from England. Their accents are so wonderful! I love to hear them speak. Matt’s dad actually used to be an Olympic swim coach and now he builds Olympic pools (he built the one for this past summer Olympics – cool, huh?). My brother and his fiancé had a wedding to attend so Matt, Tara, Matt’s parents, my parents and myself all went out to eat at an awesome restaurant, Tellers.

photoWe started with their signature fries; they’re fried in duck fat. Um, yeah. You can imagine the flavor is rich and decadent!

photoI then had a Mediterranean salad. The photo is really terrible because I used my iPhone but there was asparagus on the bottom, then field greens, olive tapenade, roasted tomatoes, pine nuts and Parmesan cheese. Amazing!

photo  For my main course, I ordered the bacon wrapped filet mignon. It was so delicious – tender as could be!
photoI loaded up my plate with the sides we ordered which were creamed spinach and lobster mac and cheese. Everything was great.

I saved a piece of filet for Gunner and he was a happy pup!

We had a really nice night! There was definitely no room for dessert, though I wish there was because their dessert menu is incredible!

Question: What are your favorite side dishes to order in a steakhouse?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. Before I began eating plant-based foods I’d always order the coleslaw! I also like baked beans, baked potato, any grilled or roasted veggies for side dishes.
